Double-A: NW Arkansas 4, Springfield 3 (7 innings – Game 1)

Double-A: Springfield 3, NW Arkansas 2 (7 innings – Game 2)
L: Chris Dwyer (1-2, 4.19)
HR: Nick Van Stratten (2), Anthony Seratelli (2)
Brief Summary: The Naturals and Cardinals split a doubleheader on a cold, rainy night in Springfield. In the first game, catcher Salvador Perez launched a solo home run down the left field line, breaking a 3-3 tie and propelling NW Arkansas to victory. The Naturals lost the nightcap, however, despite a strong performance by starter Chris Dwyer, who allowed just one earned run on three hits and a walk over six innings.
Other Notes: RC was at both games, so stay tuned for a complete report – along with some other features – over the next couple of days…Wil Myers told us prior to the first game that he doesn’t expect to play in this series with Springfield. The Royals are being cautious with the young outfielder, who is nursing a bruised knee. He did, however, take infield and batting practice prior to the game…Christian Colon committed his first error of the season on a slow bouncer to short in the third inning. It was a costly miscue, leading to two unearned runs.
Next Game: The Naturals (9-7) and Cardinals (7-11) hook up for the third game of their four-game set on Wednesday afternoon. John Lamb (0-1, 5.56) is slated to start for NW Arkansas.
