The Royals' minor league system produced just one winner on Friday, as the first place Wilmington Blue Rocks shut out Winston-Salem behind a sensational performance by starter Jake Odorizzi. Elsewhere in the system, the Omaha Storm Chasers saw their nine-game winning streak snapped, while the Kane County Cougars fell victim to an 11th inning walk-off homer. Read all about the day's action inside.

Triple-A: Iowa 4, Omaha 3

L: Luis Mendoza (1-1, 2.87)
HR: David Lough (3), Clint Robinson (7)

Brief Summary: The Omaha bullpen wasted an excellent start by Mike Montgomery, coughing up a three-run homer in the ninth inning as the Storm Chasers fell to Iowa, 4-3. The loss snapped Omaha’s nine-game winning streak. Montgomery worked the first six innings, holding the Cubs to a single run on four hits and three walks while fanning five. David Lough and Clint Robinson both homered in the first inning, staking the Chasers to an early 3-0 lead. Eric Hosmer raised his batting average to .413 with his third straight multi-hit game.

Other Notes: With his first inning solo home run, Clint Robinson now leads the entire organization with seven dingers this season…Mike Montgomery turned in his third straight “quality start,” and he has posted a 1.23 ERA over his last four outings.

Next Game: The first place Storm Chasers (13-8) hook up with the Iowa Cubs (11-10) again on Saturday evening for game three of their four-game set. Vin Mazzaro (1-0, 5.02) is slated to start for Omaha.

Double-A: Arkansas 6, NW Arkansas 3

L: Heath Rollins (0-2, 6.35)
HR: None

Brief Summary: The Naturals took advantage of two Arkansas errors to build a 3-1 lead in the top of the fourth, but the Travelers responded with five unanswered runs in the bottom of the frame en route to a 6-3 win over NW Arkansas. The Naturals collected just three hits on the day. Starter Heath Rollins was tagged for five runs on three hits and four walks in his 3.1 innings of work.

Other Notes: The original plan was for Wil Myers to play on Friday, but he was again withheld from the lineup. The 20-year-old outfielder has been out since April 22 with a bruised knee. Myers reported via Twitter on Friday that he now expects to be back in the lineup on Tuesday.

Next Game: The Naturals (10-9) and Travelers (9-9) square up again on Saturday evening for the second game of their four-game series. Mario Santiago (1-0, 2.08) is scheduled to make his first start of the season for NW Arkansas.

L: Chaz Byrne (0-1, 4.09)
HR: None

Brief Summary: The struggling Cougars dropped their sixth straight game, losing a heartbreaker to the Burlington Bees in 11 innings, 2-1. Kane County starter Leonel Santiago was sensational, holding the Bees to just one run on two hits and a walk while fanning eight in 8.0 innings pitched. Unfortunately, the Cougars managed just six hits and left 12 men on base, setting up Burlington’s walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning.

Other Notes: Ryan Stovall keeps on mashing. The 24-year-old third baseman finished 2-for-5, raising his batting average to a team-best .382 with his fourth straight multi-hit game…Leonel Santiago’s outing was his third straight “quality start.” After surrendering nine earned runs in his first two outings, the 21-year-old right-hander has posted a 1.35 ERA over his last 20.0 innings pitched…Outfielder Brian Fletcher did not play on Friday. In Thursday night’s contest, he was removed in the seventh inning. There is no word on whether or not he suffered an injury, but he has not been placed on the club’s disabled list.

Next Game: The Cougars (7-15) will look to salvage the finale of their three-game set with the Bees (15-5) on Saturday. Sugar Ray Marimon (0-2, 5.74) is scheduled to start for Kane County.
