Official: Duffy to start Wednesday for KC
Duffy was originally acquired by the Royals in the third round of the 2007 draft. Through five seasons in the minor leagues, the 6-foot-3 left-hander holds a career record of 27-14 with a 2.79 ERA. Prior to the 2011 season, Royals Corner ranked Duffy as the Royals organization's eighth-best prospect.
The Royals will make Duffy's promotion official on Wednesday, when the club will announce a corresponding move to clear room on the active and 40-man rosters.
UPDATE (4/18/11): To clear space on the 40-man roster, the Royals on Wednesday designated RHP Kanekoa Texeira for assignment. Duffy took the active roster spot of Kyle Davies, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list.
