Now, the 38-year-old is set to become the new assistant hitting coach of the St. Louis Cardinals. The job has been offered, though the formal announcement is not expected until next week, reports the Post-Dispatch.
Molina's predecessor, John Mabry, was promoted to hitting coach when Mark McGwire resigned last month to take the comparable job with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The eldest brother of the catching Molinas retired with a .274 average, 711 RBI and a .718 OPS over 1,362 games in parts of 13 major league seasons with the Angels, Blue Jays, Giants and Rangers. He earned a world title with the 2002 Halos.
