My passion for baseball began when my Granddad would take my uncle and I to Arizona Diamondbacks games every summer. Since those first few games I’ve always been around a baseball diamond, all through high school and now in College.
I am excited to get started covering the Northwest Arkansas Naturals this summer, a team that is part of more than just a city, but an entire region. Since, moving from Wichita in 2008, the Naturals have been successful in their time in Northwest Arkansas, making the Texas League finals in 2009 and winning the title in 2010.
The home of the Naturals, Arvest Ballpark, has played host to seven current Kansas City Royals, including Salvador Perez, Eric Hosmer, David Lough, and Gregg Holland.
It is sure to be the home of many more future Royals, which we could be watching right now.
Here in the natural state, fans love their baseball, and the Naturals are part of one of the fastest growing areas in the country. I am currently a journalism student at the University of Arkansas, and I can be found at both Arvest Ballpark and Baum Stadium, the home of the Razorbacks, as much as possible. I have written for the Arkansas Traveler in the past, writing for all things Razorback Athletics.
While this season, has not brought the wins of past seasons, the love of the game is still present and fans are excited about the upcoming Texas League All Star Game on June 25th.
