![]() Rowdy Hardy was excellent again
|
The organization split its four games on Sunday, as both the Omaha Royals and Wilmington Blue Rocks won while the Wichita Wranglers and Burlington Bees lost. We take a look at some of the day's notable performances inside. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Omaha 11, Fresno 10 W: Kenny Ray (1-1, 6.19), S: Ryan Braun (2, 0.00) HR: Craig Brazell (2)
In a high-scoring affair in Omaha, five players collected at least two hits for the O-Royals. In Mitch Maier's current 4-game hitting streak, he is batting .538 with 3 walks, and he‘s now batting .324 in his last 10 games. With the win, the O-Royals (17-20) moved within half a game of climbing out of the cellar in the PCL American North Division. _________________________________________________________
AA: Tulsa 11, Wichita 4 L: Juan Cedeno (3-1, 5.02) HR: Ed Lucas (3)
Chris Lubanski stays hot, extending his 7-game hitting streak. During the streak, he is batting .478 with two home runs and seven walks. Luke Hochevar pitched beautifully for six innings, but he left the game in the seventh after allowing a leadoff single and a double. Juan Cedeno entered the game in relief and allowed both inherited runners to score, along with four of their friends. What had been a close game turned into a laugher, and the loss put the Wranglers a half a game behind division-leading Tulsa. Although Hochevar‘s ERA isn‘t where he‘d want it to be, he does have an impressive 10.25 K:9 IP ratio. _________________________________________________________
High A: Wilmington 5, Salem 1 W: Rowdy Hardy (3-0, 0.94) HR: Kila Kaaihue (5)
The Blue Rocks pounded out 15 hits on Sunday, but left 12 men on base, coming away with only 5 runs. However, for an offense that has struggled as mightily as the Blue Rocks’ has this season, they’ll take both it and the win. Rowdy Hardy continued his dominance of the Carolina League. Hardy's impressive K:BB ratio currently stands at 25:3, and he has not allowed more than one run in any of his appearances thus far. You know you’re cruising when you allow one earned run in eight innings pitched and see your ERA go up. _________________________________________________________
Low A: Quad Cities 3, Burlington 2 L: Josh Cribb (1-2, 4.97) HR: Matthew Morizio (2)
After being shut out in consecutive games, the Bees finally got back on the scoreboard, but not the win column. Josh Cribb and Jason Godin both pitched well, but the Bees’ bats couldn't get them a win on Sunday. Chris McConnell (0-4 on Sunday) is in the midst of a cold streak, batting .175 in his last 10 games. Joe Dickerson stole his seventh base of the season. |
