RC Organizational Report: May 15

Rain washed out Burlington's contest on Tuesday, but the Omaha Royals played two, finishing Monday's suspended game and playing a shortened seven-inning nightcap. Over in Wilmington, the Blue Rocks exploded for 12 runs and another win. RC recaps the day's action inside.

After the game was suspended due to rain on Monday, the Grizzlies and Royals continued the game Tuesday morning with Fresno ahead 4-1. Neal Musser continued his dominance of AAA batters, throwing two more scoreless innings. Musser has now thrown 15 innings for the O-Royals, allowing only five hits and no runs. The Royals' two runs both came on home runs to right field, by Craig Brazell and Mitch Maier.

The second game of the "double header" went quite a bit better for the Royals, as the pitching allowed only three hits in seven innings. Billy Buckner impressed once again, registering two strikeouts, while the other seven outs came on groundballs. Mitch Maier is in the midst of a 6-game hitting streak, batting .500 with 3 walks in that time. With his home run, Craig Brazell has now hit a home run in three straight games.

Chris Lubanski took his hitting streak to nine games on Tuesday, with an RBI single in the 8th inning. Octavio Dotel got the start on his rehab assignment, allowing two hits and a run. The Wranglers have dropped the first three games of their series with Tulsa, and will try to avoid getting swept on Wednesday afternoon.

The Blue Rock offense broke out, led by a four-hit night from Mario Lisson. Jose Duarte and Kila Kaaihue added three hits apiece. Duarte is in the midst of a hot streak, and Tuesday's performance raised his season batting average to .297. Interestingly enough, only three of Wilmington's 17 hits went for extra bases -- a pair of doubles and a home run. Chris Nicoll has certainly not had a great season, and Tuesday's outing may have been his worst yet. Nicoll, normally known for good command of his pitches, struggled while allowing five hits and four walks in three innings. The Blue Rocks will try to win the final game of the series on Wednesday.

The Burlington Bees game against Swing of the Quad Cities was cancelled due to heavy rain. The game will not be made up, as the two teams don't meet again this season.
