RC Organizational Report: May 22

Omaha on Tuesday pounded the Oklahoma RedHawks for the second straight game, with both Craig Brazell and Mike Aviles hitting two home runs apiece. Brazell now has four homers in his last two games and nine in his last 11, and his 16 dingers this year leads the minor leagues. The other clubs were also in action on Tuesday, and RC recaps all of the day's games inside.

Omaha took the second game of the series with a 8-3 win over Oklahoma. Craig Brazell continues to be the story of the team, connecting on another two home runs on Tuesday, bringing his season total to a now minor league-leading 16. Tyler Lumsden had a pretty good start, and interestingly enough, all three of the runs against him came on home runs. Ryan Braun pitched a scoreless 9th inning to preserve his perfect ERA.

Wichita dropped its second in a row on Tuesday, while starter Danny Christensen had his second disappointing start in a row. Christensen allowed six runs in five innings, and like Omaha starter Tyler Lumsden, he also allowed three home runs. Second baseman Irving Falu has started to hit his stride, batting .313 in May after a .178 average in April. Wichita ace Luke Hochevar will try to get the Wranglers back on track on Wednesday.

Daniel Cortes got the start for Wilmington on Tuesday, and continued his dominance -- at least in the strikeout department. The tall right-hander tied his season high with eight strikeouts. He did make a key throwing error, however, that led to his two unearned runs. Kila Kaaihue continues to hit at the pace that put him on the prospect map two years ago, and we can only hope this time it's for real. He has collected multiple hits in five of his last 10 games.

Jeff Bianchi has started to hit again, going six for his last 19. While his K/BB ratio is certainly uninspiring at 16/3, it's nice to see him heating up again. Everett Teaford ran into a wall on Tuesday after coming off a great start in his last outing. Teaford allowed 11 hits and eight runs in only four innings. Burlington will take their 17-25 record against Great Lakes again on Wednesday with former first round pick Matt Campbell taking the hill.
