RC Organizational Report: June 4

Wichita was off on Monday, but the organization's other teams each lost their games. Burlington failed to build upon Sunday's doubleheader sweep of Cedar Rapids, as the Kernels returned the favor on Monday. RC recaps the rest of the day's action inside in today's minor league report.

Omaha dropped Monday's game to Portland 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth, as a Craig Brazell error led to an unearned run off reliever Neal Musser. Musser has now pitched a total of 28 innings with Omaha on the season, and still does not have an earned run to his credit. Joey Gathright set the table for the offense, going 2-for-4 with his 21st stolen base of the season. Billy Butler is on a serious cold streak after his blazing hot start to the year, he's scuffling at seven hits in his last 44 at bats.

The Wichita Wranglers had the day off on Monday. They will resume play on Tuesday with Leo Nunez taking the ball to continue his rehab assignment, and Carlos Rosa will relieve him.

Wilmington lost in a heart breaker Monday night, as Kinston scored twice in the top of the ninth on a key error by right fielder Brain McFall. It was a good day for the Wilmington offense however, particularly from the top of the order. Jose Duarte, Marc Maddox, and Mario Lisson all contributed with two hits, one of Lisson's being his fourth home run of the year. Blake Johnson had another tough outing, allowing four runs in five innings.

Burlington's pitching staff was not on top of its game in the first game of Monday's double header. Josh Cribb was torched for seven runs in three and a third innings. Brady Everett led the way for the Bees offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and a home run with three RBI's. Jeff Bianchi and Kurt Mertins each pitched in with two hits, as did catcher Jeff Howell.

A day after a sweep of the doubleheader on Sunday, the Bees were swept by Cedar Rapids in the doubleheader on Monday. Jim Wladyka made his Burlington debut and did not make a good first impression, allowing all of Cedar Rapids seven runs in only two innings of work. The offense though didn't make the game competitive either, compiling only three hits during game two. Southpaw Ryan DiPietro will get the start tomorrow for Burlington to finish out the series with Cedar Rapids.
