Only the Wichita Wranglers managed a win on Tuesday, as all the other affiliates lost their games. For the second straight day, a Royals farm club was swept in a doubleheader, with Wilmington taking the honors on Tuesday. However, several players had notable performances, and RC recaps all the day's action inside in today's minor league report. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

AAA: Portland 5, Omaha 4 (10 innings) L: Kenny Ray (2-2, 4.34) HR: Craig Brazell (14), Justin Huber (5)
The O-Royals dropped their second straight game in the bottom of the ninth, as Ken Ray allowed a run to give Portland the win. Both Justin Huber and Craig Brazell went deep for Omaha. John Bale really could not have pitched much better than he did. In two innings, Bale threw 19 pitches, 16 of them for strikes, while striking out three batters. Omaha will take Wednesday off before coming home on Thursday to play Nashville and face Brewers top prospect Yovani Gallardo (8-1, 2.14). _________________________________________________________ AA: Wichita 6, Arkansas 2 W: Carlos Rosa (3-3, 4.76), S: Jarod Plummer (6) HR: Adam Donachie (3)
The Wranglers broke a five-game losing streak on Tuesday with a strong win over Arkansas 6-2. The trio of Leo Nunez, Carlos Rosa, and Jarod Plummer combined on a fine pitching performance, holding the opposition to two runs. Chris Lubanski broke out of a funk with a 2-for-4 performance. The play of the day came in third inning, when with two outs Adam Donachie came through with a grand slam to put the Wranglers ahead 6-0. _________________________________________________________ High A: Kinston 7, Wilmington 5 (Game 1, 7 innings) L: Jason Godin (0-2, 12.46) HR: Kila Kaaihue (9)
The Blue Rocks were downed in game one, as Jason Godin got hammered again in his second start for Wilmington. Like last time, Godin allowed six runs and didn't make it past the fifth inning. It was a good day, however, for centerfielder Jose Duarte, as the Dominican product went 4-for-4 at the plate, with two runs scored and a double. Mario Lisson stayed hot, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Kila Kaaihue went deep for the ninth time this season. Kinston 3, Wilmington 1 (Game 2, 8 innings) L: Patrick Green (0-3, 5.66)
Rayner Oliveros got his first start of the season, and it was a very solid outing. Oliveros went five innings, allowing only four hits and one run, while striking out six. Jose Duarte capped off a strong day with a 1-for-2 outing in game two, along with two walks and a stolen base. With the 5-for-6 performance on the day, Duarte's batting average rose to .299 on the season. Brett Bigler, who has been very streaky so far this season, went 2-for-3 in game two. _________________________________________________________ Low A: Cedar Rapids 7, Burlington 1 L: Ryan Di Pietro (2-3, 5.00)
The Bees offense was shut down on Tuesday, putting together only a run on six hits. Jeff Bianchi smacked two hits and has a 5-game hitting streak. Joseph Dickerson smoked his eighth double of the season in the second inning, and reached base later in the game on a walk. Reliever Tyler Chambliss, who on Tuesday was named to the Midwest League All-Star Team, put together four solid innings, striking out four and allowing one run in four innings. |
