|
Only two clubs were in action on Wednesday, and both lost. Despite a ninth-inning comeback attempt, the Wichita Wranglers dropped a close one to Arkansas. Over in Wilmington, Blue Rocks ace Rowdy Hardy got roughed up for the first time this season, as the Rocks lost to the Kinston Indians. The Omaha Royals took the day off on Wednesday. They return home on Thursday to face Nashville and their top prospect, Yovani Gallardo. _________________________________________________________ AA: Arkansas 5, Wichita 3 L: Greg Atencio (1-2, 4.32)
After being shut down for eight innings on Wednesday, the Wranglers put together a comeback attempt in the top of the ninth but just fell short, as Arkansas took the game 5-3. Chris Lubanski led the way for Wichita in the ninth inning, leading off the inning with a double to right field. Other than the ninth inning, Wichita did next to nothing on Wednesday. The scheduled starter for Thursday is southpaw Jason Cromer (2-4, 6.25), as the club tries to rebound from a tough loss. _________________________________________________________ High A: Kinston 6, Wilmington 4 L: Rowdy Hardy (6-1, 1.79)
Rowdy Hardy had his first tough outing of the season, and it came in his 12th appearance of the year. Hardy was roughed up for 11 hits and five runs in five and two-third innings, and even with the rough outing, he still is second in the Carolina league in ERA. At the top of the lineup, Jose Duarte pushed his average above .300 with a 2-for-4 day, including a walk. Josh Johnson has been hitting much better as of late, going 10 for his last 30, including a 1-for-2 night with a couple of walks on Wednesday. _________________________________________________________ The Burlington Bees had a scheduled day off on Wednesday. They hit the road on Thursday to take on the Beloit Snappers, as southpaw Everett Teaford (1-5, 5.04) will take the hill. |
