![]() McConnell went 2-for-3 for the Bees on Monday
|
On Monday, the Royals' four minor league teams traded fates, as the two clubs that lost on Sunday won, and vice versa. Rowdy Hardy bounced back from his season's lone rough outing to throw seven shutout innings in Wilmington's win, while the Bees prevailed in a squeaker over the Peoria Chiefs. RC has all the details inside in today's minor league report. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

AAA: Iowa 8, Omaha 2 L: Matt Wright (3-3, 3.92) HR: Billy Butler (12)
The O-Royals’ record dropped to an even 32-32 on Monday as they fell to the Iowa Cubs, 8-2. Matt Wright and Ken Ray each tossed four innings, with Wright allowing five runs and Ray surrendering the other three. Billy Butler provided the lone bright spot in the offense for the Royals, smacking a two-run homer to center field in the top of the eighth inning. _________________________________________________________ AA: Tulsa 2, Wichita 1 L: Greg Atencio (1-3, 4.23) HR: Mike Stodolka (7)
Wichita saw its record tumble to 23-39 with a loss on Monday night to Tulsa, 2-1. Mike Stodolka gave the Wichita offense its only spark, as he belted a solo home run in the sixth inning. The Wranglers’ pitching was actually very good, but the defense was not, committing three errors on the night. _________________________________________________________ High A: Wilmington 4, Frederick 0 W: Rowdy Hardy (7-1, 1.62), S: Gilbert De la Vara (6) HR: Miguel Vega (2)
Rowdy Hardy did not let one bad outing affect him. After Hardy's worst outing of the season last week in which he allowed five runs in five innings, he rebounded with his best outing of the year, allowing only two hits and a walk in seven innings while striking out six. The offense didn't chip in until the seventh inning, when Miguel Vega blasted a two-run home run to give the Blue Rocks the lead for good. Catcher Kiel Thibault went 2-for-4 on the night with a double, and is batting .314 in his last ten games. _________________________________________________________ Low A: Burlington 6, Peoria 5 W: Ryan Di Pietro (3-3, 4.75), S: Henry Barrera (1) HR: Brady Everett (6)
The Bees won in a tight match on Monday, as they squeezed out a 6-5 victory over of the Peoria Chiefs. Chris McConnell led the way for the Burlington offense, going 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, and two stolen bases. Kurt Mertins followed with a 2-for-3 day as well, smacking a triple and stealing two bases. Aaron Hartsock threw two innings, allowing an unearned run in the top of the ninth on his own error. Henry Barrera came in to clean up and struck out the final two batters. |
