RC Organizational Report: June 12

The Wilmington Blue Rocks got rained out on Tuesday, but both the Burlington Bees and Wichita Wranglers won their games. Omaha lost to the Iowa Cubs, despite a 5-for-5 effort from Fernando Cortez. RC recaps all the day's action inside in today's minor league report.

Omaha fell to Iowa for the second straight night on Tuesday, as Ben Hendrickson was torched for nine runs in five innings. Fernando Cortez had a huge night offensively, going 5-for-5 with three doubles and a couple of RBI's. Southpaw Tyler Lumsden (5-4, 5.90) will take the mound tomorrow for the O-Royals.

Despite being outhit by Tulsa, the Wranglers pulled out the victory on Tuesday afternoon, 7-3. Juan Cedeno and Michael Connolly combined to pitched the nine innings on Tuesday, and it was Cedeno's first start of the year. It was still a close game in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Adam Donachie put the game away with a three-run home run to give the Wranglers a four-run lead. Danny Christensen (1-5, 5.90) will take the ball tomorrow for Wichita.

The Wilmington Blue Rocks game against the Frederick Keys was postponed due to rain on Tuesday. Wilmington and Frederick will play two games on Wednesday, Julio Pimentel (3-2, 2.86) will start the first game, and Patrick Green (0-3, 5.66) will start the nightcap.

The Burlington Bees came out victorious on Tuesday night, defeating the Peoria Chiefs 3-2. Everett Teaford actually threw a gem through six innings, but allowed two base hits and a run to open the seventh before being yanked out of the game. Henry Barrera couldn't pick him up and allowed the other inherited runner to score. Brady Everett had another big game offensively, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, and his batting average is now up to .297. Southpaw Matt Campbell returns to the Bees from Wilmington to make a spot start for the injured Mario Santiago on Wednesday. Santiago took a ball of his hand in his last start, but he isn’t expected to miss much time and will be back after the Bees’ All-Star break. In other news, Bees' shortstop Chris McConnell has been promoted to the Wilmington Blue Rocks.
