RC Organizational Report: July 4

The Wichita Wranglers were rained out again on Wednesday, but the other six clubs were in action, compiling a 3-3 record on the day. In Burlington, Matt Kniginyzky made his first start for the Bees since last season's labrum surgery, and he was dominant while picking up the win. The B-Royals won again, as did the surging Wilmington Blue Rocks. RC has all the details inside in today's report.

Despite outhitting their opponent, the Omaha Royals lost when Round Rock took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the eighth, and the game ended, 9-8. Mitch Maier had an excellent day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI's. However, Tyler Lumsden's start was, to be nice, not very good. Lumsden was pulled after 1.1 innings after he allowed six hits and six runs.

The Wichita Wranglers‘ game with Corpus Christi was rained out on Wednesday. Oddly enough, this is the sixth game between the two clubs that has been postponed due to weather this year. They will be making up one of those games in a doubleheader on Thursday.

The Wilmington Blue Rocks turned the tide on Kinston on Wednesday with a 10-2 victory. Despite battling his control, Julio Pimentel was excellent, allowing only one run on five hits in 6.1 innings. Pimentel was helped by a good dose of run support, led by Jose Duarte, who was 3-for-5 with a walk and two RBIs. Brett Bigler also got in on the action, going 3-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored.

The Burlington Bees took the game on Wednesday over the Beloit Snappers 5-1 behind some excellent pitching. Matt Kniginyzky, whose 2006 season ended prematurely with a torn labrum, made his 2007 Bees debut, and it was a great one to say the least. Kniginyzky lasted six innings, allowing only four hits and one run while striking out six. The bullpen picked up right where he left off, as Josh Cribb, Aaron Hartsock, and Chris Hayes each tossed a scoreless inning. Offensively, the red hot Joe Dickerson didn't let yesterday’s hitless game get to him, as he responded with a 2-for-3 night.

The Idaho Falls Chukars fell victim to the Casper Rockies, 5-4, on Wednesday night. Clegg Snipes, the club's 40th round selection, started the game for the Chukars, and he allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits. Clint Robinson returned to action after being out for almost a week, and he went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

The Burlington Royals won their second game in a row over the Princeton Rays with a 7-4 victory on Wednesday night. Wilson Tucker and Jake Lane each continued their hot streaks, both recording 2-for-4 games. The B-Royals scored six runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a Antonio Jimenez three-run jack. Sidewinder Ryan Woods picked up his fourth save to shut the door in the ninth inning.

One night after being on the winning side of a thrashing, the AZL Royals were on the losing side this time, 13-0. The Royals were held to only one hit on the day, belonging to outfielder Vinny Pennell. Starter William Ferinas, who came into the game with a perfect ERA, tossed four innings and gave up three runs and three hits.
