The organization split its six games on Monday, with the B-Royals, Bees, and Wranglers all emerging victorious. In Burlington, shortstop Kyle Martin hit two home runs, including a grand slam, to lead the B-Royals to victory. Despite tying the game in the top of the ninth, the Omaha Royals lost in extra innings Monday night, 9-8. Justin Huber returned to the Omaha lineup with a splash, knocking in a run with an RBI double in the first inning. Mitch Maier reached base three times with two hits, including a double, and he raised his average to .305. The Wichita Wranglers’ offense exploded for 20 hits in an 11-7 victory over Arkansas. The Wranglers scored two in the seventh and six in the eighth, highlighted by Jeff Nettles’ three-run blast, his second of the night. The Wilmington Blue Rocks lost 5-3 in the series opener with Myrtle Beach on Monday. Julio Pimentel was roughed up, as he allowed 10 hits and five runs in four innings of work. The Burlington Bees won in a nail biter Monday with a 4-3 victory. In the bottom of the ninth, Aaron Hartsock loaded the bases before striking out Great Lakes third baseman Josh Bell for the first out. Jim Wladyka replaced him and struck out his first batter, then induced a groundball to end the game. Brady Everett continued his hot hitting in this game with a 2-for-4 effort. The Idaho Falls Chukars fell 9-6 in 11 innings on Monday night. Greg Holland gave up three runs in the top of the 11th to give Missoula a lead they would not give away. Manny Juan blasted two solo shots in his first two at-bats, giving him a total of three on the year. The Burlington Royals won their sixth straight game with a 12-8 victory over Johnson City. Kyle Martin belted a grand slam in the first inning, then a two-run homer in the third to lead the B-Royals offense. David Lough went 1-for-2 with a double, but was removed from the game when the field conditions got bad, as they didn't want to take a chance given his recent hamstring injury. Patrick Norris reached base three times and stole his 14th base of the season. _________________________________________________________ The AZL Royals were off on Monday. |
