It was not a good night for the Royals' organization, as only the Burlington Bees managed to win their game. However, behind a solid start from pitcher Jason Godin, the Bees won their fifth straight game and grabbed a share of first place in their division. AAA: Albuquerque 12, Omaha 8 L: Ben Hendrickson (7-5, 6.17)
The Omaha Royals lost in a high-scoring affair 12-8 on Wednesday evening. After Scott Elarton was once again terrible, Ben Hendrickson was even worse, allowing five runs in less than an inning of work. Eight players in the lineup had at least one hit, and seven of the eight had at least one extra-base hit. Craig Brazell pushed his OPS over 1.000 again with a 2-for-5 night. _________________________________________________________ AA: Arkansas 6, Wichita 3 L: Danny Christensen (2-10, 5.83)
The Wichita Wranglers were defeated in an afternoon game on Wednesday, 6-3 . Danny Christensen was banged around for 10 hits and five runs in as many innings. Mike Stodolka pushed his hitting streak to six games with a 3-for-4 afternoon, which raised his batting average to an even .300. _________________________________________________________ High A: Myrtle Beach 7, Wilmington 1 L: Dan Cortes (2-7, 4.00)
The Wilmington Blue Rocks were downed 7-1 on Wednesday night. Dan Cortes got the start for the Blue Rocks and was a little wild, but he finished with a respectable line of three runs in 5.2 innings pitched. Myrtle Beach pitching held the Blue Rocks to only four hits while striking out 13. _________________________________________________________ Low A: Burlington 7, Lansing 5 W: Jason Godin (3-1, 2.32), S: Chris Hayes (8) HR: Brady Everett (8), Jesus Soto (2)
The Burlington Bees won their fifth game in a row with a 7-5 win over Lansing and are now tied for the Western division lead at 15-10. Joe Dickerson had two doubles and two RBI's in the win, and Brady Everett blasted his eighth homer of the year in the fourth inning. Jason Godin was excellent in his start, allowing three runs on six hits in seven innings. _________________________________________________________ The Idaho Falls Chukars were off on Wednesday, and return to action on Thursday at Helena to begin a seven-game road trip. _________________________________________________________ R-Adv: Bluefield 3, Burlington 2 (Game 1) L: Bobby Hastry (1-2, 1.04)
The Burlington Royals lost game one of the doubleheader, 3-2. Eduardo Paulino was good for five innings, allowing only three hits and two runs on the day. David Lough went 2-for-4, and his batting average went down to .526. Bobby Hastry allowed his first earned run of the year in the sixth inning, which proved to be the game winner for Bluefield. The Burlington Royals ended up getting swept in the doubleheader, losing in another close game, this time 2-1. Bryan Paukovits tossed his best game as a professional, allowing one run on two hits in five innings. Patrick Norris went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. _________________________________________________________ R: Rangers 9, Royals 4 L: George Biddle (0-2, 4.66)
The AZ Royals pitching faltered down the stretch as the team lost to the Rangers, 9-4. The game was tied 3-3 going into the seventh inning, but Royals pitching gave up two runs in each of the final three frames. Sam Runion got the start for the Royals, and he allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits in five innings. Hilton Richardson went 1-for-4 with a double, but committed two errors in the outfield. |
