RC Organizational Report: July 24

The Royals finally had another winning night in the minors, as the six clubs in action on Tuesday combined for a 4-2 record. Idaho Falls returned to its winning ways with a big win while the Bees won their second straight over West Michigan. RC has all the details inside in today's minor league report.

The Omaha Royals won the series opener 5-3 on Tuesday night against Salt Lake. Billy Buckner started and only went one inning, which is highly interesting. Ryan Shealy finally got it going on his rehab assignment, going 2-for-4 with a double and a home run. Shane Costa and Mitch Maier each had two hits for the O-Royals in the win.

The Wichita Wranglers were bounced on Tuesday, 12-6. Danny Christensen was roughed up for six runs in five innings, raising his ERA above six. In fact, outside of Gabe DeHoyos' 2.1 perfect innings, none of the Wranglers pitchers did well, as Juan Cedeno and Jarod Plummer each allowed three runs of their own. Adam Greenberg went 2-for-5, and is batting .409 in his last 10 games.

The Wilmington Blue Rocks rebounded on Tuesday with a 7-4 win over Salem. Rowdy Hardy picked up his minor league leading 13th win by going seven innings and surrendering only three earned runs. Mario Lisson had a 2-for-3 afternoon, and he also knocked in a couple of runs. The story was Brian McFall however, as the 23-year-old outfielder went 4-for-5 with a double, home run, and five RBI's for the Blue Rocks.

The Burlington Bees were victorious on Tuesday night, 5-2. For the second night in a row, the Bees won behind some great pitching. Mario Santiago went the first five innings, allowing two runs on five hits. Three relievers combined on four scoreless innings to finish out the ball game. Derrick Robinson and Joe Dickerson each had a double and a walk in the victory.

The Idaho Falls Chukars walked all over Missoula on Tuesday night, 10-3. The pitching staff allowed only three runs (two earned) en route to the victory, and Dane Secott struck out five in three innings of work. Devery Van De Keere had three hits, including two doubles, and Anthony Seratelli had four hits in the win. The Royals' 28th round pick, Fernando Garcia, saw his first action in pro ball and went 0-for-3 with a walk.

The AZL Royals were downed 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon as the Padres scored three in the eighth inning to take the lead for good. Matthew Mitchell was excellent in four and a third innings, but then allowed three runs in the eighth inning without recording an out, as Eric Van Slyke was unable to strand two inherited runners. With a 1-for-4 game, Hilton Richardson extended his hitting streak to seven games.
