The organization split its six games on Thursday, as Omaha was off and the Blue Rocks played three innings before rain intervened. Meanwhile, the Burlington Bees split a doubleheader, while both the Burlington Royals and Arizona Royals won their games behind solid offensive production. The Omaha Royals were off on Thursday, and will start a four-game series at Memphis on Friday. _________________________________________________________ AA: Midland 5, Wichita 4 L: Tim Bausher (1-4, 7.94)
The Wichita Wranglers fell on Thursday to Midland, 5-4. It wasn't starter Carlos Rosa's fault however, as the 22-year-old righty allowed only two unearned runs in six innings. Tim Bausher blew it in the bottom of the ninth, giving up two runs and the lead. With Mike Stodolka getting the day off, Jorge Padilla slid into the three spot in the order and delivered with a 2-for-4 night, which included a double and two RBI's. _________________________________________________________ The Wilmington Blue Rocks game went three innings on Thursday before being washed out due to rain. In his attempt take the minor league lead in wins, Rowdy Hardy tossed three perfect innings before storms intervened. Brandon Duckworth will take the hill for the Blue Rocks on Friday on his road back to the big leagues. _________________________________________________________ Low-A: Burlington 1, Fort Wayne 0 (Game 1) W: Henry Barrera (2-0, 5.25)
With a run in the bottom of the seventh, the Burlington Bees picked up a 1-0 win over Fort Wayne in game one of the doubleheader. Jesus Soto hit a ground ball up the middle that brought in Jamar Walton for the game winner. Jason Godin tossed six innings of shutout baseball, allowing only three hits and recording 14 ground ball outs. Godin was helped out by four double plays turned by his defense. Fort Wayne 7, Burlington 3 (Game 2, 8 innings) L: Ryan Di Pietro (5-8, 5.57)
Game two didn't go quite as well, as the Bees fell 7-3 in extra innings. Edward Cegarra gave up three runs in the first, but otherwise pitched well through five innings. Jamar Walton went 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI, and a walk. Walks and errors did the Idaho Falls Chukars in as they lost to Billings, 8-3. Chukars pitchers combined to walk eight batters, and they hit two more. The Burlington Royals offense erupted for 15 hits in a 9-7 win over Princeton on Thursday night. Yeldrys Molina led the offense with a 4-for-4 night, knocking a double and driving in two runs. Brett Amyx went 2-for-5 with a double and is batting .450 in his last five games. _________________________________________________________ R: Royals 7, Brewers 0 W: Danny Duffy (2-1, 0.40), S: Michael Lehmann (1)
The AZL Royals won easily on Thursday as they shut out the Brewers, 7-0. Danny Duffy tossed six brilliant innings, allowing only three hits and striking out nine to pick up the win. Michael Lehmann struck out six in three innings of no-hit ball to pick up the save. Fernando Cruz went 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Sean McCauley brought his average over .300 with a 2-for-4 evening. |
