RC Organizational Report: August 16

Thanks to another doubleheader for the Burlington Royals, the organization on Thursday night had a full slate of eight games, and the clubs combined to go 4-4 on the night. In Omaha, Chris Lubanski hit a game-winning, walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning. RC has all the details inside in today's minor league report.

Chris Lubanski's three-run walk off homer gave the Omaha Royals a 6-4 win against Iowa. Down 4-3 going into the bottom of the 11th, Iowa relievers walked two batters before serving up the gopher ball to Lubanski. Luke Hochevar started for the O-Royals, going six innings and allowing two runs. Justin Huber kept it going with a 2-for-4 night, and he's now boasting a 1.096 OPS in the month of August.

The Wichita Wranglers fell on Thursday evening, 6-1. Rehabbing John Thomson gave up three runs in three innings and picked up the loss. Danny Christensen finished out the game with six fairly solid innings, allowing three runs on five hits. With the loss, the struggling Wranglers fell to 20-31 on the second half of the season.

The Wilmington Blue Rocks smacked 16 hits in an 8-6 win over Potomac. Jose Duarte led the offense with a 4-for-5 night with two RBI's, and stole his 31st base, matching his total from last year. Brian McFall pushed his hitting streak to nine games with a 2-for-4 game, and is batting .375 in his last 10 games. Blue Rocks starter Julio Pimentel picked up his 10th win by going 5.1 innings and allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits.

The Burlington Bees were shut out on Thursday night, 9-0. The Bees' offense only picked up three hits, including one apiece from Jeff Bianchi and Joe Dickerson. Mario Santiago was pounded for seven runs on nine hits in 4.1 innings of work. Henry Barrera was mildly impressive however, tossing 1.2 innings and getting all of his outs on strikeouts, though he did allow two hits and hit two batters.

The Idaho Falls Chukars picked up a 1-0 win over Great Falls on Thursday. Burke Baldwin made the start for the Chukars and tossed five shutout innings with four strikeouts. Zach Peterson tossed the final four innings to pick up the save. O.D. Gonzalez went 2-for-4 and knocked in the only run of the game in the fourth inning.

The Burlington Royals picked up a 6-3 win in game one of a doubleheader with the Princeton Rays on Thursday. Bryan Paukovits picked up his first professional victory by tossing five innings and allowing two runs (one earned) while striking out five. Patrick Norris went 2-for-4 and stole his 25th base of the season.

The Burlington Royals fell in game two, 5-1. The B-Royals didn't do much offensively this game, as the Princeton pitching staff only gave up three hits. David Lough played for the first time in two weeks and went 1-for-3 with a stolen base while playing center field.

The AZL Royals were stomped by the Angels on Thursday, 12-4. Mitch Hodge didn't bring his control to the game, as he allowed four runs (two earned) in three innings while walking a season high six batters. The Royals pitching certainly was not helped by the defense though, as they committed five errors.
