Both the Omaha Royals and Burlington Royals had their games rained out, but the five remaining teams combined for a winning night behind a pair of impressive pitching performances. Blake Johnson had a stellar start for the Blue Rocks before being removed in the sixth inning due to an apparent injury, while Sam Runion pitched masterfully in Arizona. RC has all the details inside.

The Omaha Royals game was postponed due to heavy thunderstorms on Wednesday.

The Wilmington Blue Rocks improved the second half lead to five games with a 5-2 win over Myrtle Beach. Blake Johnson dominated for 5.2 innings, allowing two hits and walking two while striking out four before being removed due to an apparent injury. Johnson lowered his ERA to 3.30, and among qualifying starters in the Carolina League, the Blue Rocks now hold the top three in that department in Rowdy Hardy (1st), Julio Pimentel (2nd), and Johnson (3rd). Brian McFall carried the offense with a 2-for-3 night, which included his 13th home run of the year.

The Idaho Falls Chukars walked away with a 9-4 loss on Wednesday. The Chukars were out of the game quickly, as Billings scored six runs in the top of the first and never looked back. That didn't hinder the red hot Clint Robinson however, as he picked up two more hits, one of which was a double. Wilson Tucker also picked up a hit, and has gotten a hit in all four of his games with the Chukars thus far, including a 5-for-5 night on Tuesday.
