Low-A: Cedar Rapids 6, Burlington 4
L: Kelvin Herrera (2-2, 4.10)
Starter Kelvin Herrera got battered around Monday, allowing six runs on seven hits in four innings in the Bees’ 6-4 loss against the Kernels. Ryan Dennick relieved Herrera and held Cedar Rapids scoreless for the next four innings, but Burlington could not score enough runs to overcome the deficit.
On offense, Wil Myers went 2-for-5 with a double, and Juan Graterol finished 2-for-4. Fernando Cruz was the only other Bee to record a hit, however, as the offense continued to struggle. Every starter struck out at least once, for a total of 13 strikeouts on the day.
The Bees will play the second game of their series with the Kernels on Tuesday night.
