The O-Royals smacked three home runs Wednesday, bashing their way to an 8-1 victory over the Sky Sox. David Lough went 4-for-5 with a home run and a triple, while Jordan Parraz went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Scott Thorman and Kurt Mertins both hit home runs, while Alex Gordown went 2-for-4 with a walk.
Luis Mendoza scattered seven hits across six innings, allowing no runs while striking out two. Matt Herges and Greg Holland each threw scoreless innings, while Josh Rupe allowed an unearned run in the ninth. The runner reached base on Alex Gordon’s first error since switching to leftfield.
The Omaha Royals, winners of four straight, go for the series sweep of Colorado Springs Thursday night.

The Naturals offense was quiet Wednesday, scoring just one run on six hits in a 2-1 defeat to the RoughRiders. Derrick Robinson went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Manny Pina, Ernesto Meija, and Johnny Giavotella each hit doubles. Chris McConnell was the only other Natural to get a hit. Mike Moustakas went 0-for-4, snapping his 10-game hitting streak.
Aaron Crow pitched six innings, allowing two runs on six hits. Crow struggled with his command, walking five batters, but he also fanned five.
NW Arkansas plays the second game of their series against Frisco Thursday night.

Despite pitching well, John Lamb suffered his first loss as a Blue Rock, allowing three runs in six innings in Wilmington’s 4-1 loss to the Frederick Keys. Only one of the runs was earned, as errors by Juan Rivera and Rey Navarro lead to a pair of unearned runs.
At the plate, Jamie Romak went 3-for-3 with a double, and Salvador Perez also added a double. The rest of the offense struggled, as Patrick Norris was the only other Blue Rock to record a hit.
The Blue Rocks have an off day Thursday before hitting the road to face the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

Deivy Batista and Jose Bonilla each had two hits in the first game, but Burlington recorded no extra base hits in the second. Wil Myers finished the day 1-for-5 with a walk.
Burlington’s starters struggled as well, as neither made it out of the fifth inning. Nicholas Wooley went 4.2 innings in the second game, allowing six runs on seven hits, but did strike out seven batters. Matt Mitchell started the first game and lasted 4.1 innings, allowing six runs on seven hits while only striking out two batters.
The Bees play another doubleheader against the LumberKings Thursday.
