It was a rough night for the Royals' minor league affiliates, as all four clubs lost. The NW Arkansas Naturals fell in a rain-shortened contest, and their loss, combined with Springfield's win, leaves the club's magic number at 3 entering this weekend's crucial series with the Cardinals. AAA: Albuquerque 14, Omaha 6

L: Luis Mendoza (4-5, 4.14)

The O-Royals pitchers were rocked on Wednesday, allowing 14 runs as Omaha was blown out by Albuquerque. Luis Mendoza threw five innings, allowing eight runs and 10 hits while striking out four. Blaine Hardy and Greg Holland did not perform much better, allowing a combined six runs on six hits over the final three innings. The three runs surrendered by Hardy were the first he has given up at the Triple-A level this season.

Alex Gordon and Kila Ka'aihue both had multi-hit games, and Cody Clark collecting his sixth double of the season. The O-Royals were able to put men on base but went 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position, stranding eight batters.

Omaha wraps up their series against Albuquerque Thursday night.
