The O-Royals pushed themselves into first place American Northern division with a 6-3 win over the Express. Luis Mendoza threw a quality start, allowing three runs on seven hits in six innings of work, striking out three. Greg Holland followed Mendoza and was dominant, throwing three perfect innings while fanning two batters.
On offense, Jai Miller went 2-for-4, including a three run jack, and Ed Lucas had a multi-hit game with a solo shot. Scott Thorman also went yard, while Edwin Bellorin went 1-for-3 and drove in a run.
Omaha continues their tortuous road trip on Tuesday when they travel to face the Iowa Cubs.

The Naturals smashed the Drillers Tuesday, combining for 9 extra base hits in an 8-6 victory. Mike Moustakas went 3-for-5, while Jeff Howell smacked two doubles. Paulo Orlando had two hits, including a triple, and Nick Van Stratten also had a pair of hits, including a double. Manny Pina returned from the disabled list and homered in his only at bat.
Aaron Crow started and allowed six runs on seven hits, including a three run homer. Crow struggled with his control, handing out five free passes while only ringing up two batters. Ben Swaggerty and Louis Coleman combined to pitch the final four innings, holding the Tulsa scoreless while striking out three.
NW Arkansas plays the second game of their series against Tulsa Tuesday night.

The Idaho Falls Chukars dropped their season opener to the Orem Owlz, 8-3. Starter Greg Billo took the loss after surrendering three runs over five innings. Former catcher Matt Morizio made his pitching debut, surrendering three unearned runs over two innings of work. First Jake Kuebler was the offensive star for the Chukars, finishing the day 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles.

Jonathan Rodriguez (4.1 IP, 6 ER) took the loss in relief of starter Brian Peacock, who tossed one scoreless inning before departing. Heralded international signees Chelsor Cuthbert and Jin-Ho Shin both recorded their first professional hits in their debuts. Shin finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
The Royals get a day off on Tuesday before meeting up with the AZL Rangers in Surprise on Wednesday night.
