Blaine Hardy allowed a run to score in the bottom of the ninth, suffering his first loss of the season as the O-Royals lost to the Cubs, 8-7. Gaby Hernandez battled through the first six innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits, including two round-trippers. On offense Ed Lucas lead Omaha with three hits, including a triple and a home run, while David Lough smacked a double and dinger.
Omaha matches up with Iowa again on Wednesday night.

Johnny Giavotella cracked a two-out single in the bottom of the 13th to push the Naturals past the Drillers, 5-4. Mike Moustakas went 3-for-5, clubbing a double and a homer, while Manny Pina also went yard for NW Arkansas. Eduardo Paulino started and threw 5.2 innings, allowing four runs on five hits while fanning three. Ben Swaggerty, Patrick Keating, and Chris Chavez combined to shut out Tulsa over the final 7.1 innings.
The Naturals continue their series against the Drillers Wednesday afternoon.

The Chukars’ offense exploded for 18 hits, powering the club to its first victory of the season with an 11-2 victory over the Owlz. Murray Watts lead the offense, going 4-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs, while Yowill Espinal also collected four hits. Leondy Perez earned the victory by throwing five innings, allowing one run on three hits while ringing up six batters.
Idaho Falls will look to win their first series of the season when they play the final game of their three-game set against Orem Wednesday.

The Burlington Royals dropped their season opener, falling to the Greeneville Astros, 7-3. Luis Piterson and Alex McClure both had two hits, but the team failed to record an extra base hit. Crawford Simmons pitched the first five frames, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out seven. The bullpen struggled, as Gates Dooley and Robert Penny allowed four runs on five hits in 3.2 innings.
Burlington plays their second game against Greeneville tomorrow night.
