Howell delivered a key 3-run HR for the Naturals

While the big league club was busy taking care of business against Stephen Strasburg and the Washington Nationals, the Royals' minor league system had an outstanding day as well. Indeed, all five of the Royals affiliates in action on Wednesday won their games. Click inside to read the day's minor league report.

Editor's Note: The Wilmington Blue Rocks and Burlington Bees were off again on Wednesday, thanks to their respective All-Star breaks. The Blue Rocks return to action on Thursday, while the Bees will play again on Friday.

The O-Royals scored four runs in the top of the ninth, coming back to beat the Iowa Cubs, 6-4. Jordan Parraz and David Lough each connected for home runs, and Alex Gordon smashed two doubles. Philip Humber threw the first seven innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, but issued no walks and struck out 11 batters. Josh Rupe held Iowa scoreless over the final two innings to earn his first victory of the season.

Omaha plays their third game of the series against Iowa Thursday night.

The Naturals jumped ahead 9-1 against the Drillers but had to score three runs in their last at-bat to defeat Tulsa, 12-10. Paulo Orlando and Jeff Howell both slugged homers, and Nick Van Stratten had a multi-hit game, blasting a double and scoring three runs. Howell, whose blast proved to be the game-winner, moved from catcher to third base in the third inning after Mike Moustakas was ejected and second baseman Johnny Giavotella left the game due to injury. Edgar Osuna pitched the first five innings, allowing an unearned run to score, before Chris Chavez and Brandon Sisk allowed Tulsa back into the game, allowing a combined nine runs in three innings of work. After NW Arkansas had regained the lead, Rowdy Hardy pitched a scoreless ninth to collect his first save of the season.

The Naturals wrap up their series against Tulsa Thursday night.

The Chukars won their first series of the season, defeating the Owlz 8-5 Wednesday. Dale Cornstubble lead the offense with three hits, while Thomas Zebroski and Murray Watts had two hits, each collecting a double. Michael Mariot threw the first four innings, allowing three runs on four hits while ringing up four batters. Chad Blauer shut out Orem for three innings to earn the decision.

Idaho Falls starts a two-game series against the Casper Ghosts Thursday.

Ryan Stovall hit a triple and a home run, driving in four runs while powering the Burlington Royals past the Greeneville Astros, 9-3. Luis Piterson also had two hits, smacking a double and scoring twice. Leonel Santiago battled for five innings, allowing three runs on eight hits while fanning four. Cole Lohden and Chas Byrne held the Astros scoreless over the final three innings to end the game.

Burlington plays the final game of their series against the Astros Thursday night.

Julio Pimentel and Devon Lowery both returned to competitive action for the first time since 2008, combining to pitch the first two innings for the AZL Royals. Robinson Yambati followed with five innings in relief, holding the Rangers scoreless on three hits while striking out five. Kyle Kriech pitched two shutout innings to earn the victory, and Jordan Roualdes pitched a scoreless ninth to record the save. On offense, Daniel Mateo collected three hits, while Cheslor Cuthbert and Jarrod Dyson each contributed a pair of base knocks.

The Royals face the AZL Mariners on Thursday.
