Gaby Hernandez pitched 6.2 strong innings, allowing one run on four hits while fanning 11 batters, leading the O-Royals to a 3-1 victory over the Sounds. Louis Coleman followed Hernandez with 1.1 shutout innings, and Josh Rupe recorded three strikeouts in the ninth inning to log his fourth save. On offense, Kila Ka’aihue went 1-for-3, collecting a double and three RBIs, while Alex Gordon roped a triple and drew two walks. Mike Moustakas went 0-for-4 in his Triple-A debut.

Wilmington got two dominant starting pitching performances Thursday, allowing the Blue Rocks to sweep the Frederick Keys in two seven-inning games. In the first game, Buddy Baumann tossed six frames, allowing one run and two hits while ringing up six batters. In the nightcap, John Lamb shut out the Keys over six innings, allowing one hit while striking out eight hitters. Kevin Chapman and Barry Bowden each threw a scoreless inning of relief. In the early game, Christian Colon, Eric Hosmer and Nick Francis had multi-hit games, while Rey Navarro added a double. In the late game, Hosmer and Adam Frost cracked doubles, while Wil Myers legged out a triple and drew two walks.
The Blue Rocks will face the Keys on Friday for the third game of their four-game series.

The Bees struggled on offense, getting blanked by the Hot Rods in a 7-0 defeat. Carlo Testa and Luis Del Rosario were the only Bees to record hits. Matt Mitchell was hit hard, allowing four runs on six hits in three innings. Rodolfo Encarnacion allowed two unearned runs in the fourth, and Onassis Sirrett allowed one run in three innings of relief.

At the plate, Jacob Kuebler smacked two doubles, while Geulin Beltre blasted a two-run bomb in the fourth. Kevin David went 2-for-4 with a double, and Murray Watts connected on a triple. Middle infielders Justin Trapp and Yowill Espinal combined to commit seven errors on the day.

Mike Giovenco was tagged for seven runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings before being lifted for Claudio Bavera, who allowed four runs on six hits in 1.2 innings. Justin Mazur followed Bavera and allowed two runs on four hits in 2.1 innings before Robbie Penny recorded the final two outs in the top of the ninth. On offense, Ryan Stovall went 3-for-4 with a triple, and Anthony Howard went 3-for-5 with a double. Luis Piterson and Gabe MacDougall both had two hits, while Piterson, Alex Llanos, and Yunior Figueroa each added a double.
