The organization's pitching was particularly impressive on Wednesday, as Luke Hochevar, Dusty Hughes, Blake Wood (making his Carolina League debut), and Everett Teaford all had excellent starts. On the day, the organization won four of its six games. The Arizona Royals, however, ended their season with a 28-28 record after a loss to the Mariners. RC has all the details inside.

The game went 15 innings, but the Omaha Royals pulled out a 3-2 victory over Nashville. Mike Aviles blasted a solo shot in the top of the 15th to put the O-Royals on top. Luke Hochevar registered his best start with Omaha, scattering six his and one earned run over eight strong innings. Roberto Giron and Thad Markray combined for seven shutout innings in relief.

The Wichita Wranglers rebounded from two straight losses with a 9-5 win on Wednesday evening. Dusty Hughes gave the Wranglers an excellent start, allowing two hits and one run over six innings, while striking out a season high nine batters. Valentino Arce was a key contributor, going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI's in the win.

The Wilmington Blue Rocks got an excellent start from a newcomer, but the bullpen couldn't hold the lead and lost 7-3 in 14 innings. Blake Wood tossed six shutout innings, scattering three hits and striking out eight in his debut with the Blue Rocks. However, Russ Haltiwanger blew the save in the top of the ninth. Wilmington tied it in the bottom of the ninth on a Brad McCann double and Brian McFall RBI single to send it to extras. The game was at a stalemate until Tyler Chambliss gave up four runs (two earned) in the top of the 14th, and the Rocks had no answer in the bottom of the inning.

The Burlington Bees won in a pitchers duel on Wednesday, taking the game 1-0 in 10 innings. Jesus Soto hit a live drive to right-center field to bring home Michael Thompson in the 10th inning for the win. Everett Teaford, Josh Cribb, and Aaron Hartsock combined on a four-hit shutout, the Bees' twelfth shutout victory of the season. Burlington will wrap up their season with five more games on the road after tonight's home finale.

The Idaho Falls Chukars won their sixth straight game, and second straight series sweep with a 3-1 win over the Orem Owlz. Mike Moustakas got the Chukars on the board early with an RBI single in the first inning, and added another hit in the eighth to finish 2-for-4 on the night after sitting out three games with a sore wrist. Devery Van De Keere knocked in the other two runs for the Chukars with an RBI ground out in the fourth and a single in the sixth.

The AZL Royals finished up their season on Wednesday with a 3-1 loss to the Mariners. Danny Duffy tossed three innings, relieving the rehabbing Devon Lowery, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits. Michael Lehmann pitched a perfect inning in relief in the Royals final game of the season. The loss dropped the Royals‘ final record to 28-28, including a second half mark of 16-12, good for third place (3.0 games back).
