Four Blue Rocks named All-Stars
Michael Mariot makes his first All-Star team after also posting a 5-0 record, primarily out of the 'Rocks' bullpen. The 22-year-old Nebraska alum has piggybacked with southpaw Noel Arguelles all season and has held opponents to a .195 batting average while logging a stellar 2.23 ERA.
Whit Merrifield was also named to his first All-Star team as a professional. The 22-year-old is currently hitting .268/.353/.361 with two home runs, 13 doubles, 21 RBIs, and 38 runs scored. On May 23, the South Carolina alum was hitting .316, but a 5-for-47 (.106) slump has dropped his overall numbers to their present level. Still, Merrifield has been a very versatile player, seeing time at center field, left field, and second base, and he has yet to make his first error of the season.
Second baseman Rey Navarro rounds out the Blue Rocks' All-Stars. The 21-year-old has enjoyed an offensive breakout this season, hitting .288/.340/.461 with 12 doubles, four homers, and 34 RBIs. Navarro also leads the league with seven triples, and he ranks among the circuit's top 10 in both hits (63) and batting average.
